Treatment with Mandibular Advancement Splints
We provide SomnoDent Mandibular Advancement Splints, which can be used to treat snoring and sleep apnoea following diagnosis by a Sleep Physician. These custom-fitted devices work by gently holding your lower jaw forward during sleep to keep your airway open. We are happy to help organise a Sleep Physician appointment for you.
What to Expect:
- An adjustment period of 2-4 weeks is normal, during which you may experience jaw soreness or increased salivation
- Regular follow-up appointments are needed to adjust the device and monitor your oral health
- Potential side effects include temporary tooth sensitivity, jaw muscle soreness, or in rare cases, minor tooth movement
- The device manages symptoms but doesn’t cure sleep apnoea – ongoing use is required
- Not suitable for severe sleep apnoea or certain dental/TMJ conditions
